Meet Ben Mooney, Founder & Director of Mooney Wellness
About Ben Mooney
I feel humbled and honored that my career has revolved around work with individuals during vulnerable moments in their lives. I am dedicated to helping people nourish their life stories. I am a licensed Occupational Therapist practicing in Colorado, New Mexico, and Idaho. I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT). I am Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) and I am a breathwork facilitator.
I use a virtual platform with the aim to reach as many people as possible while offering affordable services. Each interaction is not just about addressing a problem; it’s an opportunity to engage with unique stories and walk alongside clients through their life journeys. With 25 years of experience, I tailor my methods to each individual, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all solution. I provide science-based information, structure, and accountability, understanding that each person is unique and that change can be challenging.
I am a husband, Dad, Son, beginner campfire guitarist, outdoor adventure enthusiast, old-man hockey player, concert-goer, and world backpacker. At the core, I am highly creative, genuinely curious, compassionate, and I love forming deep and meaningful connections with people.
Mooney Wellness is built on the following tenants:
- As a client your innate intelligence is the primary guide in this experience and supersedes any external inputs or protocols from us.
- Your participation in our services is at all times voluntary and I value your input, from the overall scope and direction of our work together, to decisions made in each of our sessions. I will work to routinely define and modify outcome expectations. If an objective is ever unclear, please ask!
- As a client, you are invited to show up exactly as you are. I will treat you with respect and integrity, regardless of your personal opinions, beliefs, and lifestyle choices.
- Our work together is centered on alignment of your inner system. Our methodology will help you to use multidimensional elements incorporating cognitive, emotional, somatic, and spiritual aspects based on your needs and beliefs.
- I am, and ask you to be, open at all times during our work together. We each have permission to interrupt, pause conversation, or stop sessions, both, in efforts to seek clarity or if feeling discomfort. If either you or I are frustrated or concerned, I believe it is important to share those opinions in the moment with respect and compassion for the other party.
- Time awareness is important in our relationship. Unfortunately, there may be times where we are in the middle of working on a major topic and our scheduled time runs out. We may accordingly need to pause such sessions and revisit the issues in our next session. Using the last 5-10 minutes to create a plan for the future time period between sessions is always a priority, when possible.
- If you cancel your visit in less than 24 hours, there will be one warning, and a $50 fee will be charged after that point for future cancellations in less than 24 hours.
- In this relationship we will celebrate our imperfections. Life is complicated and topics addressed are nuanced for individual needs. Clients are invited to show up as “not perfect,, and the practitioner is allowed to “not have all of the answers.”
